BY HAND
Everything I create is by hand. I make the screens, print the patches, stitch, stud, and distress by hand in my house. Wearables have always seemed to me to be the perfect combination of art and craft, of form and function. You can hang a print on your wall, but wouldn’t you rather wear it? In a time where clothing is mass machine produced, there’s something special about the human touch. Knowing each stitch was done meticulously and intentionally by hand.
FROM THE HEART
I started modifying clothes as an angsty middle school punk. I was so enamored with the DIY ethos of the scene and I dove right in, stenciling and studding non-stop. Eventually I ran outta my own clothes to modify, so I started making them for others.
ABOUT US
Queer Made
Femin started in 2021, following the closing of my previous operation, “Angst Brigade”. Angst Brigade was the name I used from 2018-2021, selling my clothing & taking on commissions.
In 2021, I transitioned (genders), and Femin was born. I was selling my art, patches, and zines at pride events and wanted a name that would represent both my artwork and clothing, which are often intertwined in my process. Essentially the goal was to create wearable pieces of art, with focus on the art rather than the wearable. I want to make the things I like, because I love when people like what I make.

The Process
The process of Femin starts with finding discarded materials to give new life. Everything I do utilizes repurposed materials. The clothing industry (and all industry for that matter) is responsible for so much waste alongside human & environmental exploitation. I don’t want any part of that. There’s enough clothing on the planet, and I feel we should use what we have, rather than producing waste. Industrialization and mass manufacturing has removed the human touch from a lot of what we consider “art”, which is important in an increasingly alienated society.

NICE TO MEET YA!
Hi, I’m Lucie. I’m a Michigan based artist, and graphic designer, I make everything under the “Femin” umbrella.
I started modifying clothes as an angsty middle school punk. I was so enamored with the DIY ethos of the scene and I dove right in, stenciling and studding non-stop. Eventually I ran outta my own clothes to modify, so I started making them for others.
